Oil Pulling
Why do you need to oil pull?
It is a traditional Ayurvedic technique that aids in drawing out toxins from the mouth and tissues, such as mercury, anesthetics, bacteria, etc. The oil changes from golden to white and gets thinner as you swirl it around in your mouth, absorbing hazardous chemicals, metals, and bacteria that are lipophilic (fat-loving). During this time, the oral mucosa's lipophilic molecules as well as those moving through the blood arteries that pass through it are absorbed into the coconut oil.
Since the average circulating time — or time required for the blood to completely circulate from the head to the toes — is approximately one minute, this oral therapy also helps absorb toxic chemicals traveling in the blood from other parts of the body.” Dr. Williams.
How to Do an Oil Pull:
Put a spoonful of organic, unrefined coconut oil in your mouth.
For three to ten minutes, swish, chew, and gargle.
Spit it out in the toilet, not the sink or you’ll clog it.
Use baking soda and sea salt to brush your teeth. Done!
How Frequently Should I Oil Pull?
An excellent place to start is once or twice per week. After visiting the dentist, oil pulling might be very helpful for getting rid of any medications or chemicals you were exposed to. Although I've heard from some people that it whitens teeth, and I have personally noticed this, I was unable to locate any reliable research on the subject. When I'm blow-drying my hair in the morning, I prefer to oil pull.
